This era is renowned for its seafaring Norsemen who explored, traded, and sometimes raided across Europe and beyond. Central to Viking culture were their rich myths and legends, many of which have been passed down through the generations.

Among these tales, Odin, the chief of the gods, stands out prominently. Odin is often depicted as a one-eyed wanderer who sacrificed his eye for wisdom. He is accompanied by two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, whose names mean "thought" and "memory." These ravens fly across the world each day, bringing back news and information to Odin.

Another key figure in Norse mythology is the wolf Fenrir, a monstrous beast prophesied to play a crucial role in Ragnarok, the end of the world. Bound by the gods due to his immense strength and threat, Fenrir’s eventual breaking free signals the onset of the cataclysmic events of Ragnarok.

Equally significant are the valkyries, warrior maidens who serve Odin. They ride over battlefields to choose those who will die and those who will live, taking the slain warriors to Valhalla, Odin’s hall, where they prepare for the final battle of Ragnarok.
